Reading the Numbers

What the spot price actually means

The spot price is the benchmark quote for immediate delivery of one troy ounce of refined metal, set by activity on global exchanges and the London market. Physical coins trade at a premium above spot that reflects minting, distribution, and demand for the specific product. Rare and collectible coins are priced on collector demand, scarcity, and condition, and can move independently of the metal itself. Our Insights section covers all of this in plain English.
